The heat was unbearable. Serasim had only been on the road for ten minutes, and she was ready to jump into a lake. Or a river. Or a puddle, really. As long as it was water, it would be better than the hell on earth she was walking through at the moment. She shifted the basket from one arm to the other, not ready to admit that maybe she should have taken her mother up on her offer of a lighter load. The basket really was very heavy. The trees above her rustled together, their leaves rubbing against one another to create the eerie sound associated with wind. At the thought, Serasim froze in place, the deadweight on her arm all but forgotten.

Do you ever look around and wonder if you’re the only sane one? I mean, look at our generation. Look at what our “future” has in store. Teenagers are shooting up and getting high in their free time. Go to parties and get drunk! What a spectacular idea. It’s not like you’re underage or anything. Oh, and let’s not forget that drugs and booze are super great for your body and brain. Addiction? What’s that? Just keep it up. In a few days months years, you’ll forget everything you were taught about “just saying no”. After all, nothing says “I’m an educated individual”

Thanks for stopping by. I'm Kat, avid reader, writer, and artist. I'm trying my hand at some new styles, so all constructive feedback is appreciated. If you like it, let me know! If not, that's cool too!

I love books, and reading will forever be my love. Any book suggestions? Drop 'em in a comment - I'm open to any and everything.

I'm also a huge anime geek - currently obsessing over Kuroko no Basuke, but again, open to anything. What's your favorite?

My favorite video games are Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and anything from the Kingdom Hearts series (currently playing: Birth by Sleep). I can't get enough of them. It's a problem.

I'm also a pretty avid Vocaloid fan, but I go more for the utaites, like Reol and Kradness (if you haven't, you should check them out. Their talent is impressive). Len Kagamine will always have a place in my heart.
